More
Founded in 1855 and located in the heart of the town, Worthing Cricket Club is a lively and friendly organisation that enjoys active participation both on and off the field.
Today, Worthing CC runs five competitive senior teams, all of which play in the Sussex Cricket League. Our Senior players range from the age of 16, through to their mid-50s. Though it is fair to say that our first XI is mainly dominated by our younger adult members; many of whom have been with us since they were Juniors.
It will therefore be no surprise to learn that our club also runs a successful junior programme. Our teams play in the West Sussex Area Junior Cricket League and the Sussex Junior Cricket Festival. We aim to develop our younger players through group coaching sessions (held throughout the winter and summer months) and participation in competitive matches during the summer season (outdoors) and in the winter months (indoors). The club actively encourages its junior players to make the leap into senior cricket as soon as they are able, whilst abiding by ECB rules and regulations around juniors playing in senior matches.
We have successfully produced several players of note, who have gone on to become professional cricketers at County level. We can also proudly boast as having been the club to have an early influence on Mason Crane’s game, as he developed from being one of our juniors to a senior player and beyond. We are incredibly proud to have had a hand in producing such a great young Hampshire and England player.
We are an inclusive club. Currently boasting around 160 Male and Female Junior and Senior playing members; with a thriving playing and social scene for all ages. If you’d like to ask us some questions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch using our Contact Us form. If you simply want to join/register, please go to our Join Us page. However, if you are new to the club we recommend you also send us a quick email to let us know you have recently signed up as a new player/member.
We have a sister site on “Play Cricket”, which details all our senior and junior games for the season, including fixtures, results, league tables, player, team and club statistics, as well as featuring live score feeds for selected matches.
